LEDS Workshop – Longitudinal Electron beam Dynamics for coherent light Sources

Europe/Rome
ENEA Frascati, Rome

ENEA Frascati, Rome

Description

The workshop aims at collecting the most recent advancements in the controlled generation of high brightness electron beams from photo-injectors for coherent light sources. These include in particular seeded X-ray free-electron lasers and multi-THz superradiant sources. The workshop will move from lessons learned during the CompactLight design study. Theoretical, numerical and experimental studies will be presented and reviewed during round tables. Open routes of research in the manipulation of modulated electron beams will be investigated. Future experiments, supported by specific technological developments, and their comparison with accurate massive simulations, will be proposed in the framework of the LEAPS initiative. A round table for the definition of a LEAPS project proposal is planned at the end of the workshop, and open to all participants.

The program is made of 6 sessions. These include invited talks and round tables (see Scientific Programme). Posters (in format A0, portrait orientation) could be presented under approval by the Local Organizing Committee.

The workshop will take place from October 3 to October 5, 2023. It is hosted by ENEA in Frascati, near Rome, Italy. It is organized by Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste and ENEA, and financed by Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste and LEAPS. The number of participants is limited to 65. Registration is mandatory and participation possible only under approval by the Local Organizing Committee.

The workshop is intended to be in person only. A bus service from Frascati village to ENEA and return will be made available during the workshop.

WIFI connection will be free, through the Eduroam network. Please make sure to have a valid Eduroam account to access (https://eduroam.org/).
